Save the Date

The moment I read the Press Release about the World Cup CX race being postponed for one year I knew something bad was going to happen. Sure enough. Waiting in my mailbox was another Save The Date Wedding postcard. I really have to pay the postman to chuck these things before they get delivered to my house. San Jose, CA. Its the way the business has been going.

The biking has taken a back seat to B-days, Bachelor parties and hangovers. However there is always time for an ice cream ride on these hot days. Its been toasty but not unbearable. Just stayin' one step of dehydration is all that is needed. Buffalo chicken pizza would end this day nicely. Hoping to get two races in this august. They have made the Wardens date book so i'm hoping they are set in stone...but nothing is certain the household lately. take it easy

Cookin

Nothing beats an 80 degree day and a summit climb. After 12 miles of smooth maine coastal roads, the trip up Mt. Aggie was a maybe. Just had to see if the legs could carry the previous days food and drinking damage up the hill.

A solid ride to the top, slow going at first but found the rythym at the top of the climb to end at the visitors center

Headed back down and out toward the harbor. Discovered a newly packed dirt road that the schwinn handled well but the ESC-GT would have eaten up. Just motored along for a while but didn't want to risk puncture and the long walk home. Can't wait to get back out on dirt. Look at the pretty carbon weave on the fork. The first thing to get replaced on the bike is the fork. Stiffer than I thought but still not stiff enough. Gotta look to upgrade that next year maybe. We'll see what the screamin' brazilian says

The trip rounded out the weekend well. Not too mention the hordes of fried food consumed...Fried seafood along the coast....awsome

Gone before it had chance to begin

Gone are the days of epic rides after work. I hope for these days to return but in the meantime I must settle for the extended ride home through the burbs of boston. Occasionally i'll take the loop through Belmont woods and through what was some quick fun little trails that are now bulldozed flat for some more overpriced condos. Such a great little slice of land diced up for another housing development.

The weekend provided no chance of any biking, basically the brain and liver went into recovery mode as a series of events unfolded that all revolved around beer. A great weekend with friends (and beer). The little man is up to a 40 minute ride now in the Co-pilot. Passing joggers, other bikers, birds and cars provide much entertainment for him and trying to push a 50 pound bike up the shortest and slightest incline is plenty of work...I might even consider it resistance training. He is not much of conversationalist though, just a good passenger. Since nothing exiciting can be recounted, you must stroll through blogdom to find something else to bide your time, but till the days of single track return, i will continue to day dream of this....

its 5am where is your kid

Exactly that, its 5am, sunday morning. Up and awake chasing the crawling demon as he terrorizes anything in arms reach.....come on. It's 5am, coffee hasn't kicked in, raisan bran brings no energy or fun to the rising sun. 2.5 hours of exhaustive chasing and playing, end up passing out on the couch with the little speedy one only to sleep through my planned start at the Wells Ave training race. Instead it was a light spin through the burroughs, passing other weary eyed individuals along the way probably in similar shoes. Tempted to do the EFTA Endurance 30 miler at the end of july, only conflict, a wedding the day before. A 30 mile MTB contest with a slight hangover and half digested wedding cake....could be the wisest decision all summer. Today it's gonna be the Park Ave hill on the way home followed by the concord ave hill to the common street hill and then home. Hello Bonkville...population..me
When I think of the Crazy Gus...I think this sums up the Gus rather well
